A New Home for the Cara Community

Big News: The Cara Community is Moving to Substack!

Hello everyone,

As many of you know, the community section on our old billcara.com website has been the heart of a shared journey in investing, trading, and life & politics for 21 years. I’m excited to tell you that next week we’re moving that vibrant discussion to Substack, which in the few months I have been writing articles, I discovered is a more powerful platform.

This move allows me to provide everybody with a more structured, more conversational experience. Below, I’ll outline exactly how the new Cara Community will work.

The New Setup: Your Exclusive Free-Subscriber Chat

The core of our community will be a private Chat room, exclusively for you (free subscribers).

• It’s Just for You: This Chat will be a private space, visible only to my group of free subscribers. Your comments and discussions will not be seen by the public. It’s your own walled garden.

• How It Works: I will post discussion starters (like “Why is Baz all-in on hydrogen?” Or “Did I quit on New Pacific Metals too early?” or “Thoughts on the latest news from Nvidia?”), and you can all jump in, reply to each other, and build the conversation, just like on our old forum.

A Great Opportunity: From Chat to Spotlight

One of the most exciting features to me is the ability to highlight your best insights for a wider audience.

• I will regularly select standout comments and ideas from our private Chat.

• I will add my own commentary and analysis to your thoughts.

• Then, I will publish them in my “Notes” and some of my “Articles” (which are publicly published and help attract new members to our community).

This is a terrific way for your smartest ideas to get more visibility while keeping our day-to-day discussions private and comfortable. Even Kaimu can have his own Chat room.

A Quick Guide to Substack: Articles, Notes, and Chat

To help you navigate, here’s a simple breakdown of how I’ll be using Substack’s different features:

• Articles: These are my in-depth, formal pieces of research—like my investment theses, portfolio updates, and market commentaries. This is the “main course” that everyone gets. I will be adding the Weekly Navigator too. Separately, premium subscribers will be getting the new Daily Market Pulse, which is being expanded by 20% and will be virtually error-free based on a total reorganization I’ve made this week to the AI instructions and datasets. The second feature for premium subscribers will be what I’ll call Portfolio Select, to be unveiled next week, but as you’ll see will be substantially based on the expanded Daily Market Pulse report.

• Notes: These are my quick, public thoughts (like Twitter posts). I’ll use them for market alerts, sharing links, and—importantly—to showcase your best ideas (with credit, of course!, including to those with your own substacks).

• Chat: This is your private discussion space. I’ll have a separate one for paid subscribers, but our free-subscriber Chat is where our core community lives.

What Happens Next

1. Look for a welcome email from Substack with a link to confirm your free subscription if you have not already subscribed.

2. Download the Substack App (iOS | Android). It’s the best way to get notifications and participate in Chats on the go.

3. Once you’re subscribed, you’ll see our private Chat appear in the app and on the website. Our first discussion topic will be waiting for you!

This is more than just a platform change; it’s an upgrade. We’re preserving the private, collaborative spirit of our old community while adding new tools to help our best ideas shine.
