A Most Unexpected Trend Reversal
"Won't" is now "Will."
I’m not referring to the market although that might be true.
This may be hard to believe if you have read this week’s posts, but after the one this afternoon, I called the in-home techie back and asked him to change the order and come anyway. I am not a quitter. I figured we might have ten minutes before the internet fails and maybe he will discover something important.
Fortunately the internet continued to work (with the TV off) and the techie was able to immediately see that the in-store techies had screwed up the files transfer. He tried to fix the problem, but couldn’t. So he plugged in and turned on the old computer and, shockingly, it worked. Then, he brought up all my apps and files and they worked perfectly. He tested it thoroughly and said he was surprised his colleagues had sold me a new system when the old one (less than five years old) worked perfectly.
Then he went back to the new computer and again tried to get it to work. But couldn’t. So, after I agreed to have the new system returned to the store, he completed the order and wiped my personal files so that I could return it in a few days.
Words fail me. But life goes on.
Sometimes old is better than new. It just needs to be given a shake now and then.
I will return. I just need a stiff drink and few days to recover.

I've work on and with computers most of my life. Now that I'm retired from the computer industry, I find that I am getting less and less patient with computer problems. I used to love solving problems, but now they are just an annoyance that I can do without! :)
