What a fabulous trip on Saturday from Oshwego (eastern end of Lake Ontario and US entry point) south to the marina at Brewerton NY on the Oneida River. Eight locks (seven on the Oshwego Canal and one on the Erie Canal), no incidents. Good boat handling. Everybody on-board happy and safe.
This morning I spoke to Jim the yard manager here at Winter Harbor Marina after he looked over the boat. He did not like a lot of what he saw, particularly in the engine room. I quickly discovered that this man, with 35 years relevant big boat experience, is the expert I had been seeking all summer.
Because Jim says he can do so much of the work we require (e.g., generator fuel pump leak, Raritan head repair, port engine solenoid again, depth sounder-gps-autohelm-radar integration, new hot water tanks/pressure tank, air conditioning, hydraulic platform for dinghy, get the dinghy engine working properly and also do bottom paint along with the gelcoat repairs from Friday
