Cara Trading Advisors Logo
Thanks to Jeff, Karl and Richard, we put some different styles and colors together for Cara Trading Advisors (Bahamas) Ltd. CTAB will be the operating company in Bahamas that provides all professional services.
There will be a close overlap between professional and pro bono services. So far, of course, everything I have put up on the Web has been pro bono, and in 2008 I intend to build upon that base. All of you will soon see three websites that offer an abundant variety of free services.
With that in mind, I'd like to remind the community that as a registered trader in securities, I have an obligation to operate, well, in a professional manner with obligations to regulators and clients. So, where you run across, in the free services, items that are what I refer to as professional service, you will see the CTAB logo.
If you click on the CTAB logo, when the service is actually made available to you in late January, you will be directed to a private and secure web site that will explain the services and fee structure. It would be my great pleasure to explain them in detail at that time. You will see that what myself and about 30 other persons from cities and countries around the world -- Hong Kong and Singapore, Athens, London and Dublin, Ottawa and Toronto, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Vancouver, and Seattle, Indianapolis and Dallas, as well as Hawaii, Brazil and Bahamas, have done to create what I hope to be the best that I am capable of giving you -- services that we are all proud to use and be a part of.
Since we all have to walk before we can run, here are the logo ideas for Cara Trading Advisors (Bahamas) Ltd. Your comments will be considered in our final decision. Thank you.

Addendum from Jeff:
Here is a version that shows how the text should look. The relative size hasn't been worked out, but this is at least rendered correctly instead of being a poor screenshot.

I like the chuncky multi colored logo. The Typeface
totally breaks up and appears blurry. Coloring in some of the letters is a distraction.

FYI, the text is fuzzy. That's my fault for being lazy and copying a screenshot instead of actually using properly rendered text. Same with the color in the text. These are basically mock-ups, and we'll put together a "professional" copy once we know which design we are working with.
Bill:
I vote for top right. Color, subtle, C.
Congratulations on your newest undertaking!

Bill,
I like the multi-coloured logo with the squares best. The squares must be exactly the same size though and I think the dark green in the C needs to be changed.
Is the text hand drawn? It looks blurry to me. I like the text underneath the logo but you have to either increase the font size or decrease the size of the logo because it's unbalanced as it is.
I really like the concept and I think you're 90% there. Kudos to the graphics person that came up with this. It's very well done.
Happy holidays all!

I think the top right candidate works best.

the green one - it's more subtle - the one with the multi-colour has too much going on...and of all the logos I definitely like the thicker bars. my choice would be set 2 (green) top-left.

I like the second one up from the bottom. But I think it still looks too much like the Etrade logo. Maybe the C to encompass the star?

Bill,
Congrats on your progression! I wish you all the best! I like the top right the best, but I do have a suggestion: I would like to see a version of the C having a rounded exterior and angular on the interior. I think it would break up the angularity and soften it up a bit. I think it may offer a better sense/expression of the creative angle of your methodology. Or maybe the other way around circle on the inside and angular on the outside of the C. I eagerly await your book and appreciate all your efforts and the majestic evolution of this blog and to all your hardworking contributors, a big thank you!
Happy holidays to all!

I am unsure of the symbolism the logo is to convey. From my perspective the top left appears as "strong" as in a heavy gear or possibly multi-national chairs around a trading desk. The top right appears "lighter" as in spokes around a hub, but rimless, signifying less "strength"? I too find the angularity of the "C" or "desk" implies rigidity. If the placement of the colored "chairs" or "spokes" is not significant, I would look to move the light blue and gold to the top half and the purple and reddish brown to the bottom half. More significance could be placed on the "desk" if it was outlined in black?

I like the uppermost righthand logo for color, design & clear text. Nice colors...I do agree with Fred, the fuchsia and burgundy/mahogany are very close in hue but nevertheless very nice colors. I like the longer thinner spokes because they convey a sense of freedom to me and I am a free spirit. The wider ones look stubby to me.

top right for me, but try rectangles which use the fibonacci or golden mean ratio - it is meant to be more pleasing to the brain.
with sides X and Y,
Y/X = X/X+Y
happy christmas and new year to all

Slight correction...that's purple, not fuchsia on left side. Guess I better get to bed.

Another vote for the top right one, with the elongated green one as second choice.

I google the National Anthem of the Bahamas, a song by Timothy Gibson (1903-1978).
imho, 2 lines depict the heart of CTAB:
"Pledge to excel, through love and unity. ...
Pressing onward, march together to a common loftier goal;"
I don't know if it is legally feasible, but these 2 lines certainly would work well in the marketing material for CTAB, yes?

Upper left but increase text size.
The thing that I see is the "key" like shape inside the C.
Personally, I think this could be the symbol to get across your purpose.... Key to understading the markets...key to learning about trading...
I think the top right candidate works best.
It says Bahamas through the colors and the "spokes" says free to wander as you please, beholden to no one. The Brown could be switched with the purple ? or maybe another color instead ???
That key unlocks many doors! But one must first realize that one has a key....
All the Best to you..

I prefer the upper left with the blocks as opposed to the less powerful looking rectangles.
The colours look great on my monitor.
"C" is the "Key".

Another vote for top right, without the green fill of the text. And I like robertcw's idea of using the fibonacci ratio.

Golfer,
Yes I agree on the "key" image, although the C looks more like a secure lock of a safety deposit box; Bills' trading method would then be the key that unlocks the power of the spokes putting the wheel in motion.
If the C was rounded that image would become more obvious.

Bill,
I like the layout on the upper left, but also wonder if the chosen colors or their order have specific meaning beyond the merely visual. If so, that will add some import to the logo's "story". If not, maybe some consideration on that theme may be worthwhile?
Also, the idea of basing the rectangles on the golden mean is a great idea.
Best to all!

bill,
the fibonacci/ golden mean ratio of 1.618034
would mean the longer side of the rectangle (in the upper right selection) would be ~80% of its current length.
this might be a happy middle ground between top left and top right !

Bill,
I like the third one down from the top. It seems more professional with the business name larger than the logo. I really like the multi-color look. It's a good reflection on how worldwide the site has become and how worldwide CTAB will be.

Bill,
I like the design. Of course the colours will look somewhat different on every monitor. My preference is the mult-coloured logo with the large blocks. However, the blocks at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock look almost identical on my screen. Also, the text on all of the logos is fuzzy. I have a 17" Dell CRT monitor.
