Really too sick, Tues., Jan. 16, 2007, 2:20 PM

After a week of coughing up blood and stuff, I finally gave in. The doctor says my lungs are infected " probably pneumonia.

I couldn't hold my breath for the x-rays. I just stood there and coughed while the films were taken. I'm now on Avelox and headed for bed. I am whipped. That was a rough two hours.

Wow. I postponed a skin cancer operation so I could go to Bahamas this week. Forget about travel; now I have to get myself into shape for surgery at the end of the month.

Like the market, one's plans don't always work out. But that's life.

You know, I learned a long time ago that the only way to deal with life is to have enough in reserve that nothing takes you out of the game.

Debt will take you out of the game, so don't go into debt. Health too; so always work at good health. Stupid decisions in the market will as well; so always consider the risks before the rewards.

I think that almost 100 pct of the recommendations given here are Buys, but I'll bet that many readers actually think it's the opposite. I'm like a fox in the forest, knowing there are times to be extra wary of hunters and predators. I may have to go into hiding, going without food for a while, but at the end of the day I am a survivor.

Now I can go back to bed.

As Dr. Leisa advised in response to your previous post, it might be pneumonia. She was spot on.

I've learned always to pay attention to Leisa. She's one smart lady.

I can really relate as I had a bout of pneumonia a few years ago...felt like trying to breathe through a pin hole. When I finally went to the "doc", my blood/oxygen level was less than half of normal. Its nasty when you get it and it takes a LOT out of you...total recovery time/getting back to feeling normal in my case was months. ALL THE BEST!

Bill,

If I don't hear from your until you get well, however long that might take (hopefully not too long), it is fine by me. Get well soon, Fox. We all need you.

NYUgrad:

When I read or hear of an outrageoues comment from any source, I used the phrase:"I need a bucket" or "Please find me a bucket" knowing the foul contents of my guts will soon be displaced therein.

Your frustration in the future will always resonate with me if those words are used.

I am fed up as well and after watching the interview tonight on the PBS 'News Hour' by Jim of Bush .. I can truely say:
"I need a bucket."

Yes, we appreciate the wisdom you provide, Bill. Take good care -- health is more important than money. Look out for #1 please.

Bill, I wrote to you last week That I had gotten pneumonia, a few months ago. Put a case of water bottles by your bed each time you wake up drink. It's going to take time to get the strength back, but love will get you up each day, God be with you.

Get well, my friend. Leave markets, gold and the like to us lesser mortals for awhile.

(Note: Once, when Bill needed to be absent for an extended period, a group of "regulars" took up the baton, posed questions, posted articles, made observations with links, etc, to carry the blog through that time. We ended up with a great back and forth that took us into the hundreds of posts.)

So, in that vein, the bull in bear's clothing John Hussman, on what these historical market conditions have portended:

And a reminder as to why some people come here, Bill's two most famous "calls" (not prognostications!):

For those looking for some audio commentary on the market, I'll recommend Garyk.com (Gary Kaultbaum). You can listen to his radio program live from 6 - 7 p.m EST (weekdays) OR (and even better you can skip the commercials) listen to his recorded broadcast which you can access from the site.

Like Bill, he's an honest commentator who cares about equipping you to swim in the shark infested waters known as the market. Gary is a market technician.

Bill,
I hope you feel better real soon.

Is it just me or does APPL look like a ripe short here? Anyone else looking to exploit the iphoria?

To follow up on something I mentioned back on Jan. 11th of this year regarding oil and gold:

The current H&S short term top in gold projects down to $575. The last H&S bottom played out perfectly, which BTW was explained in depth by commenter g034 back on Oct.31, 2006.

Oil and gold tend to move in tandem so continued weakness is quite possible.

To those of us who own SLW this was posted on Briefing.com this morning-Silver Wheaton to acquire 13% interest in strategic Nevada resources (9.58 )

Co announces it has agreed to acquire, by way of private placement, 3,300,000 units of Strategic Nevada Resources at a price of C$0.75 per unit for a total purchase price of C$2,475,000. Each unit will be comprised of one common share and one-half of one common share purchase warrant. Each whole warrant entitles Silver Wheaton to purchase one additional common share of Strategic Nevada at a price of C$1.25 for a period of 18 months from the date of issuance. The proceeds of the offering are primarily intended for use on exploration and rehabilitation of Strategic Nevada's recently acquired Crescent Mine near Kellogg, Idaho. As a result of this transaction, Silver Wheaton will own 12.6% of the outstanding shares of Strategic Nevada on an undiluted basis, and 17.8% after giving effect to the exercise of the warrants held by Silver Wheaton.
Get well soon Bill.
