Proud of my military background, Mon., Oct. 2, 2006, 10:06 AM

Just for the record, I happen to be proud of my military background.

When I was born, my father was an army Sgt. I spent about eight months of the first year of my life living at the Nanaimo BC barracks on Vancouver Island before my Dad was shipped to the European war theatre in WWII.

My Dad volunteered to fight a necessary war because war had been declared on the British Commonwealth of Nations, including Canada. The United States did not enter that war until three years later because war had not been declared against them.

My Dad volunteered to the Army, Navy and Air Force and the Army a second time before being accepted. He served almost six years " including following the War so that he could be trained as an electrician.

As a youngster, I was taught about discipline and the need to serve one's country. I joined the 42nd Medium Battery of the 7th Toronto Regiment as a summer student. My testing had shown an inclination to mathematics and so I was destined to join the artillery. I learned a lot from that experience.

The 7th Toronto Regiment RCA made its reappearance in 1965 when, as a result of the Suttie Commission the 29th Fd , 42nd Med and the 1st Loc Regts were transferred to the supplementary Order of Battle. 9th, 15th and 130th batteries from 29th Field Regiment were transferred to 7th Toronto Regiment, which moved into its present location in Moss Park Armoury following the demise of the University Avenue Armoury.

I support Canada's military in the way all people should. When war is declared against you, you fight back. I support that principle.

But given that our soldiers have been placed in harm's way, I care that they have the resources to do their job and to return home safe and sound. I regularly receive letters from soldiers in the Middle East war theatre, and my response in every case is one of admiration for what they and their families are going through.

There but for the grace of God go I.

As for me, I believe war has been declared against the Little People by Humungous Bank & Broker and their elitist friends, and so I fight back.

No war has been declared against Canada, the Commonwealth or NATO, so I am questioning why Canada has become a warrior nation. But that's not the issue " that's a personal issue " the real issue is the principle that an elite Few have no right to control the Many.

The issue is one of respect. If our wishes were respected, our soldiers would not be in the centre of somebody else's war other than as peacekeepers. But we are not in the middle; we are on one side.

In the case of Canada's military exploits in Afghanistan, if it was truly the will of the People to engage in war there, on one side as I say, then I would support it 100 pct.

I am not anti-war; I am pro-Little People. I believe in the sovereignty of the individual and the collective consciousness.

That doesn't make me a Socialist, Communist, Liberal, anti-capitalist, or any other label some people want to attach in order to try to discredit the principles I stand for.

The difference between me and many others is that I fight back against the forces who wish to put down the individual. But you know, many individuals are listening, and thinking about what I am saying.

The blog stats for September show 61,000 unique servers linked here. At the beginning of the year it was less than half that. Month after month the stats build without any promotion or web management on my part, and with my total cost to date (since April 2004) being the grand sum of $2,000.

Many of the servers that link to me are corporations, blog aggregators, families and such that I know I have well over 100,000 regular readers. If ten want to attack me, I figure that's 1 in 10,000. If the figure was 1 in 10, I might get concerned.

But you know, I figure that owners and managers of at least $1 trillion are reading this blog, which is something that can't be said by my detractors.

So I'm going to continue doing what I do to help the People. Our wishes need to be respected by those who would control us, and I'm on a mission to speak up. I certainly don't think everything I say is acceptable to many of you, but as long as I believe it is grist for the mill and acceptable to the majority of you, this show goes on.

My Little People army is building from 140 countries " even from Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran " because we are all on the same side. We've been screwed long enough, and we need to protect ourselves.

Together, we will do it.

BTW, from this point forward, I have decided to cut off all further reader comments to my blog articles except to those of The Daily Planet and the Bull Board. If you wish to comment about something I've written, you can do that in either of these places.

Also, there will be an independent editorial board that will delete comments to those threads that they believe are unacceptable. I won't get involved.

I'll write about this editorial group in a couple days, but these are readers whose comments I know are acceptable and welcomed by at least 99.9 pct of the readers, so I'm confident you will respect any deletions made by them.

Although I don't always have a chance to respond to it, I always welcome your direct mail. And, although I get so little, I do have no trouble at all deleting offensive mail.

I'm afraid these steps are necessary in order for me to continue to publish this blog.
