Gold miner presentations #1 at Denver, Wed., Sept. 27, 2006, 7:29 AM

Most traders of the goldminer shares ought to know a lot more about the companies they trade. The presentations made at this week's Denver Gold Forum will help.

Today is the final day of the Denver show, so the webcasts will be available for another dozen or so, which I'll upload in a second part to this blog. In all cases I think, these stocks are registered to trade in both the U.S. and Canada (and in some cases in other countries), but I listed the ticker symbols I know best, and probably trade in meaningful volumes.

I'm not going to point you in any direction here other than to say I personally feel more comfortable with precious metals, and with: USGL/UXG.TO, KRY/KRY.TO, ABX, IAG/IMG.TO, QEE, RGLD, AGI.TO, PAAS, GLE, and AUY/YRI.TO.

In the second article, NEM, GG/G.TO, SLW, KGC/K.TO, AEM/AEM.TO and HMY also look good.

These are only the companies that presented at Denver, but they cover probably 80 pct or more of the ones I try to follow closely.

At today's low prices, USGL/UXG.TO, and KRY/KRY.TO represent values that appeal to me.

These presentations take 20 minutes to review, so there is a lot of homework to do, but frankly if it's not done, you can't say you understand/appreciate what these (relatively small) companies do.

In all cases however, they are in a solid industry, have good resource properties, good management, well funded (or with ready access to capital), and so forth. These are not penny stocks. They are all institutional money manager quality " some of course more so than others.

Started up the list beginning with SWC, one of my long holdings ... who would have thought that over 20% of Palladium mined is used in making jewelry and this phenomenon only in the last couple of years.

Thanks Bill for these great links.

Thanks for the informative links Bill.

The Denver Forum website shows no webcast available for QUEENSTAKE RES LTD (QEE).

Is it possible to obtain some feedback on QEE from one of your sources at the forum? Or perhaps you can provide some information on QEE's outlook.

Thanks.

What surprised me most about the Denver presentations I've listened to was the low % who talked in business terms (McEwan, PAAS/CEO, for example) and the high % who seemed more enchanted with deep holes and big trucks. Every industry has its culture!

The two gents mentioned above were the stars among those I heard. Anybody else have stars to recommend?

As a newbie in gold, why would gold mining companies be attractive when NEM chart looks 'broken' ? It maybe at critical support here around 40-42.

Just curious . . . .
