Crystallex re-capped, Thurs., Sept. 21, 2006, 10:22 AM
I am working slowly toward the completion of an objective research report on Crystallex International (TSE and AMEX: KRY). This morning, "JogyP" submitted a good recap of the situation, which I didn't want left hidden in a comment.
Thanks JogyP.

C.note, it's the old story. Went to get a cup of tea, and .... came back to 4.16 - when I did buy ...
Gold producers Highland Gold Mining Ltd. and Peter Hambro Mining Plc. said today that gold may gain after a Sept. 26 deadline on European central bank sales expires.
Under the Central Bank Gold Agreement, banks in Europe can sell up to 500 metric tons of this year before the deadline. They have sold about 380 tons as of Sept. 19, the London-based World Gold Council said yesterday.

Any thoughts?

Does anyone know the symbol for KRY call options on TD Waterhouse?
Jogy, i personally believe that their is no deadline, the US midterms is what it is all about for now.

Jock, thanks for posting the link for the article on McEwen. It was fascinating for a lot of reasons, some related to his approach to finding and mining gold.

KRY - It seems they are (necessarily) tangled up in the politics of Bolivar State, of the Mining Law, and possibly of the Presidential election on Dec.3; it's easier for any regulator to kick the can down the road until there's word from on high = Chavez, to make it happen.
I could imagine KRY's environmental permit coming in Oct, or being delayed till next year. After the environmental permit, I can imagine other hurdles and delays. What makes KRY worth waiting and biting your nails for is the size of the literal pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Gemmastar, can you imagine the reaction if McEwan were to create a "USGold Challenge" (like his "Goldcorp Challenge") by posting geologic data on the web for online prospectors to analyze? Open-source gold prospecting!
It would be a PR coup, differentiating him from all the other junior miners, and having Cramer and CNBC raving about USGL. Maybe that's why he wanted to buy up the neighboring properties!
Thanks Jock for the link.
I hope we don't have to help Rob find where to drill the holes and dig for the GOLD at Tonkin ;)

C.Note, read the USNews article. McEwan's "open-source gold prospecting" is brilliant marketing, I believe. Maybe Bill knows how his "Goldcorp Challenge" was received in Canada, where people seem sane and reserved. Here in US, I think such would attract LOTS of interest in the stock from gamblers to geeks!
Bill/ Fellow Pposters, you made a comment that addressed the naysayers of KRY as it pertains to opinions on the geopolitical risk.
In essence it said "you are not alone in your beliefs" or "there are thousands that have the same opinion".... I just could not quite remember how you phrased it and I cannot find it please help.

speaking of gold, here is a favorable article on Rob McEwen from the current US News:

Why the stock has been busy falling apart today I haven't quite fathomed ...
