Amaranth holdings revealed, Thurs., Sept. 21, 2006, 9:51 AM

I have been provided a list of 1,603 U.S. equity positions, dated June 30, 2006. Readers will want to study this list.

Download Amaranth U.S. equity holdings as at June 30, 2006.

I'd like to spend more time on it because there will be all kinds of revealing info here. I also received other types of investments plus various analyses of this list.

The first thing I noted was that the market value of the equity holdings dropped -41.4 pct from March 31 to June 30. The total market value as at March 31 was $3,295,475,843. At June 30, it was $1,931,288,713.

The difference is -$1,364,187,130.

That could be due to sales and/or losses. As I say, I haven't looked at the data yet.

But I hope database specialists study the facts here and relate them to market trends during the 2Q06. Then I hope they let the readers know their findings.

It is important to acknowledge that Natural Gas trader Brian Hunter did not trade these equities.

At the end of the day, the public will discover the story of what happened at Amaranth to cause the melt-down. The facts may be sugar-coated and spun, but the point is that the People will accept nothing less than a full accounting by regulators.

When a single market participant can lose $6 billion in a short period of time, all of us are affected. This hedge fund situation can no longer be covered up by insiders in the Administration, the Fed and at Humungous Bank & Broker.

If so, the People will walk away in disgust.

It is time to get serious; we all know that every player who trades Other People's Capital must be registered, and every financial market they trade in must be regulated.

Enough talk. Let's do it.

Well, one of their largest holdings at 6/30 was GG. Nothing like adding fuel to that particlar fire.

some of their bigger purchases were IPOs (see ticker symbols) and as i see it, these were all small holding companies with the aim of aquiring firms eg private equity.....do not know if this is big enough to consider. They invested roughly 40 Mio. altogether into these companies.
