A whole new face, Fri., Sept. 8, 2006, 11:30 AM

Nobody likes to have chunks of their face removed, but, as they say, this was for a good cause.

Surgery started at 10:00am and finished 45 minutes later. No big deal. The worst part was not seeing what had been done. When about 20 persons in the hospital lobby all swung about to stare at me when I was walking out, and the same same thing happened in the parking lot, I thought, "Oh my gawd, I must look hideous".

But all is ok as the photo below shows.

Funny thing was registering. Everybody has to have a sense of humor, and the young clerk certainly did. "Name? Address? Phone Number? Married? Happily?... "

So much for another slice of life. Thanks for your best wishes, but really I will be ok. Time to get back to work.

I see the equity market and the USD are still up and precious metals down.

Ah, but you can't keep a good man down.

I guess this means a pause before your next movie role. You look a helluva lot better than I did after my last Aldara (ointment) application to remove (precancerous) sun damage on the face, a two-month program. Ah, the perils of being a sun lover.

Bill,
Great News About the Success of the Surgery!

The equity markets have been very intresting the last few days. The VIX and had a an abrupt reversal. It looks like FED is playing games with M3 big time.

I would like more experienced investors opinion: Has this always been going on (since M3 visibilty change) and will this trend likely continue past mid-term elections?

Great to hear that it went well, Bill!

If anybody asks, tell 'em you were in a knife fight and that if they think you look bad (you don't, btw), they oughta see the other guy.

;)

Hi Bill,
Been peeking for weeks-first time writing. One of my favorite blogs. I only go long and I'm not a
professional, just disabled and at home, and my
portfolios are keeping me sane! I'm using your advise for gold stock purchases. Otherwise, I'm 50%
in cash. I've managed my stocks for 8 years, 2 years full time since I'm not working. I'm
defensive since May 10th this year- didn't see the sector rotation, lost about 10%. In Aug. got back 5%, and since then 50% cash (like I said) and lowered my position a lot. I'm afraid to short but I took your advice and went to stockcharts.com,so I educating myself about the process. Thank you for teaching the little guy.

I was an operating room RN for 25 years and was
worried about your face, but a picture is worth a
1000 words. I hope they got wide margins and that
will be the end of it. The labs and tests have
improved the melanoma stats a lot. I don't know if I have empirical data, but in my experience many people are surviving with little dings here and ther from surgeries such as yours. Stay well. Sarah Hadassah

Bill,
Whew, that's over and doesn't it feel good to have the procedure behind you?
All the best and thanks so much for your help.

Hey Bill,

You're sporting the Dennis Hopper look. I did a double take for a second...

Good to hear you'll be okay. I bet it must feel good having so many (essentially) strangers rooting for you. You're a star...

Bill,

Very happy that this is over. Your face looks great. Take care with the shaver now :-)

BTW, your calls for IVN look even better, this one is on fire now.
