Active insider trading at AMTD, Tues., July 25, 2006, 10:48 AM
The combo of Ameritrade and Waterhouse to form formidable electronic brokerage TD Ameritrade (NDQ: AMTD) has resulted in some strange trading this year.
From the active insider trading in AMTD shares, I surmise that controlling owner Joe Ricketts and the TD Bank may be planning to take the company private, which is pure speculation on my part.
I'd say that with powerful TD Bank as your banker and holder of such an enormous stock position, who needs the support of institutional traders in the capital markets.
I have E*Trade listed as my peer group choice for the Cara 100, but traders ought not dismiss the combo now called TD Ameritrade. This is one company that, in my view, is not ever going out of business in tough times. There is just too much ownership support for that to happen.
