UBS Canada reports on Canada, Mon., June 5, 2006, 1:05 PM
I have about 16 pct Canadian readers, and so I try to cover markets here (yes I am Canadian and yes some days I feel like Jim Cara, I mean Carey as in Dumb and Dumber).
But don't we all?
UBS has issued a report on Canadian equities, which contains some excellent data, as well as the top choices by their research analysts. Download UBS June 5 Report on Canadian equities.
Generally I agree. I'm glad to see that of the 10 Canadian companies I have in the Cara Global Best 100 Companies list, they have three of mine, and all have Buy Ratings " even though " as I point out " at times I personally have stock Sell (Distribute) Ratings on some of my Cara 100 companies. That's because there is a difference between a company and its stock, which is just a price.
UBS analysts like:
GICS 10 EnCana Corp (ECA) (ECA) Financial Data
GICS 15 Goldcorp Inc. (GG) (GG) Financial Data
GICS 45 Research In Motion Ltd. (USA) (RIMM) (RIMM) Financial Data
But one of their analysts picked Brookfield/Brascan/Stelco/Falconbridge, which will NEVER make the C100. I'm glad to see the Neutral Rating for it though. At least UBS is not recommending anybody buy it.
And you do know that if I had a Cara 200, certainly Teck-Cominco and probably TransCanada Pipelines would be on it.
