Sprott speaks again on gold, Thurs., June 22, 2006, 10:55 AM

Sprott Securities is a highly rated independent broker-dealer in Canada. They offer very successful hedge and mutual funds as well, under the name Sprott Asset Management. Eric Sprott is a notable and remarkable Canadian. One of their funds is a billion dollar gold fund run by chief strategist John Embry.

Disclosure: To my recollection, I have met none of these people and have no business or professional connection.

I do have a lot of respect for them, however. In fact, yesterday, I remarked that Prudential Equity Group research analyst John Tumazos could learn a few things from John Embry. Embry has an enviable track record.

Sprott produces a regular report on gold, as linked here. Download report by Eric Sprott.

I hope you read it.

The article ends too abruptly:

If a financial crisis were to ensue as a result, we believe gold will once again shine.

If? If when? What if not? And it wasn't a financial crisis that pushed gold to $730, so what happened to those fundamentals? Gone?

Am I missing something?

I wonder if "railroad guy" would really have been able to orchestrate such a conspiracy among central bankers. (I'd expect the incoming Treasury Secretary could have.) Wasn't it mostly the Japanese Central Bank removing liquidity and threatening to raise rates? Was the carry trade even more pervasive than one might have thought?
