Reader says "Spin machine at work", Mon., June 5, 2006, 12:20 PM
The more you open your eyes to what is going on around you, the more you are going to see. Check out what my reader spotted today.
Hello Bill,I'm a long time reader of your blog. I thought you might enjoy this (AP Business Writer view of things).
The part I like is: "Stocks tumbled in early trading Monday as crude futures raced higher on Iran's threat to cut its oil exports if Western nations punish or attack the country over its nuclear arms program."
Since when does Iran have an official Nuclear Arms program?

It should not have to be, but We The People must hold these business writers and their editors to a higher standard. Otherwise, we shall simply call it the bought-and-paid-for media.
My point here is that the People need a strong and intellectually honest media. We need their chief editors to weed out persons who are not professional journalists, but merely cheerleaders for vested interests.
We need bloggers and Big Media journalists to work hand in hand.

Media: Better yet are the Main Stream Media's refusal to (refer to) Muslim terror suspects as being "Islamic," or "Muslim." The recent arrests of those planning gas attacks in London were described by Reuters as being only "very religious." Members of the Jesuit Order, perhaps? Or Scientologists?

Dear Bill,
This is exerpted from the May issue of Nuclear News page 17.
" Iran says it has enriched uranium to 3.5 % and has convertd enough uranium for 110 tons of uranium hexafloride feed, according to Robert Joseph, US undersecretary for arms control and international security. ... Perhaps most disturbing is the announcement that they are operaing a centrifuge cascade consisting of 164 centrifuges... once you re able to operate, over a sustained period of time, 164 centrifuges in cascade you are well on your way to industrial scale capability. ... The Iranian governement has announced that they intend to have 3000 centrifuges installed at Natanz by the end of the year. Three thousand centrifuges is much more than one needs to produce enough enriched uranium, if properly configured, for more than one nuclear weapon a year."

Paulson...
"More importantly however, Paulson's acceptance of the Treasury Secretary position is likely to have involved money, and a lot of it. As Forbes reports, Paulson can sell his entire stake in Goldman Sachs and put off all capital gains taxes as long as he invests in government bonds or certain equity index mutual funds. With over $700 mln in Goldman shares, Mr. Paulson would face a large capital gains bill if he were to sell his shares and have to pay taxes on the gains. Furthermore, since he has to sell the stock, no eyebrows will be raised that an insider is cashing out of all his Goldman holdings. So while the press keeps wondering why Hank Paulson is making such a bad trade in terms of compensation, perhaps he is making the trade of his life."
