Cheerleading the market, Wed., 6/14/2006 9:34 AM
I have been referring to CNBC "reporters" as really being cheerleaders. Shouting to you from the NYSE floor just 15 seconds before the open, anchor Mark Haines said emphatically to David Faber something to the effect that the inflation data looked worrisome but "if you look at commodities, things are going our way".
Mark, just whose way is "our way"?
Why don't you just call it "my way" and have the CNBC producer run the Frank Sinatra song in the background. Download file
This is entertaining, perhaps, but it is not reporting.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard about the gold/commodity implosion yesterday on CNBC, I'd be buying you all drinks - and some of you sound like you could use one right about now.

Though I overpay for my cable TV, (as we all do) I have taken to not watching CNB(S) at all, or very little.
They are just too imbecilic on many fronts. Sound effects, dumb reportage, constant motion on the screen as if it was a Star Wars battle scene.
If you complained to them about it they would tell you they don't care what you think. Ok pal, so I don't watch.
Your Robtv is 1000% better.

Procol,
If you happen to catch the Replay of Michael Hainsworth (for a few minutes) and then Jim O'Connell interviewing David Taylor, vice president and portfolio manager, Dynamic Mutual Funds (for a full hour), today, you will see something that CNBC cannot or will not do -- professional journalism.
I made note of this yesterday, but really it happens all day every day.
Accolades to ROBTV.
Somebody once asked if I charge ROBTV a referral fee, but my reply was that I have no connection with them at all. Besides anybody has to watch for just a few days and they will see the value.
No clowns, no penguins, just professional people working their craft.

I could not agree more, to bad it's not even entertaining. First week of May Mr.Haines start with the here comes an all time high for the Dow, for S&P and so on. I knew at that moment the party for the bulls was over. I did all I could be still it was not enough. Thanks Bill.
