A junior gold list to research, Tues., June 6, 2006, 8:48 AM

I have been asked for a list of legitimate junior gold companies (miners and prospectors) that have promising prospects. Other than U.S. Gold (USGL), which trades in the U.S., there are several in Canada that I watch.

Without at all trying to limit your watchlist, here are seven Toronto Exchange listed golds I like. I'll try to add to the list " really there are more.

I'll try to come up with a U.S.-trading list later. Some of these may be approved for trading in the U.S., but be hard to buy/sell via most U.S. broker-dealers.

The larger producers like Barrick, Newmont, Goldcorp, Glamis, Yamana, etc, have not been considered for this list. These are juniors.

But they are not "penny" stocks in the pejorative sense.

Just kidding!

Added to PM miners over the past few days, even though we could test 600 area. Good luck!

Bil,
I read your comments in your WIR about new GDX EFT. So even for majors, you do not recommend GDX to trade miners?

ccn, I have changed my thinking. GDX was ready March 8th or so to trade (according to the AMEX listing officer who told me directly when I met her at PDAC). Then I saw a lot of sell-offs in the silver stocks for no apparent reason, right before the GDX came to market. And then I saw it was Van Eck, and not Barclays etc.

I just said to mysef, I don't need this b.s. Let's wait for several months for the market to digest what's gone on here. After GDX matures and trades within my comfort zone, I'll start to recommend it.

But only after a major smash to these stocks, where I can buy much lower than where the shorts may have been put on.

I think this GDX ETF is just one end of the chain where the Fed is holding the other.

Consequently, I am interested in stocks that are not part of an index. I am now looking at a U.S. list of stocks that are NOT GDX component issues.
