Lake Shore Gold drilling goes well at Timmins West, Wed., Apr. 19, 2006, 3:14 PM

Down at the PDAC last month, I enjoyed a couple pops with an old friend and co-worker, Ed Svoboda, and Ed's geologist pal Sethu Raman. I promised to write up their story on Lake Shore Gold (TSX: LSG), and forgot. That's too bad because the stock is now up +35 pct.

Here's the press release that helped push the stock higher. The drill results look pretty good.

A couple months ago, this speculative exploration company took in about $20 million in a private placement of stock plus another couple million from exercise of rights.

You take a company with a nice property, some good promoters, lots of cash in the treasury, and no debt, plus mix in $643 gold!!!, and what else can I say. Lift off.

And you know, in these smoke-filled convention hotel rooms where we were drinking 25 year-old booze on the house, which is what PDAC is all about " and why I love it so " there is often that wink wink when employees and promoters know they are on to something good.

I have to admit that this year I had about 200 of these "wink winks" over 4 days.

But this is one I flat out forgot about until I overheard the discussion on ROBTV in the background.

Darn it.

Anyway, remember: it's extremely speculative.

As an american citizen, what is the best way to invest in Canada. Can I open a brokerage account there. Also, are there any recommended brokers.

Thanks.
