Shanghai stocks to fly says the Fly, Thurs., Dec. 29, 2005, 6:30 AM
The Shanghai Index perked up today (+1.11 pct) to 1169.86. Shanghai Fly advises that local trader sentiment has turned bullish and that he expects to see a bullish run here (about +4.5 pct) to about 1223, which is the cycle high reached in September. I am in agreement on this one. The way to play it is via the two China ETF's FXI and PGJ.

Chinese New Year ("Gung Hei Fat Choy"), which is Jan. 29-31, 2006, is a fascinating time. I flew over Shenzhen (site of second stock market) in Southern China on Chinese New Year's one year, and watched the fireworks. My seatmate was Sir John Bond, Chairman of HSBC, on our way to London via Bahrain in the Persian Gulf.
In China, the new year is Year 4704 (don't like those 4's " my tel number is 6333 just in case you are wondering), which is the Year of the Dog.
So when thinking about FXI and PGJ, rrruff! Go get ‘em. :-)
btw, sometime in January, I will start tracking all the major stocks on the Shanghai Exchange daily, and I'll be writing more about specific stocks as well as these two ETF's. I'll devote more time to timing.
Also, people born in the year of the DOG are believed to be honest, loyal, and have a deep sense of duty. Their intelligence and industrious nature make them good leaders in the business world. The Dog people are usually steady workers, they can easily become both trusted and valued members of any community. Those people born in Dog years would make a superior industry leader, priest, educator, doctor, writer, or scientist.
Ideal Partner: Horse, Tiger
Dog Years: 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006
I happen to be a HORSE. HORSE year people are popular and hard workers. They have financially sound minds and are adept at handling money matters. Whether male or female, Horse personalities feel more comfortable in the company of their own kind. They are independent and self-willed individuals who never take advice. Horse people should choose a field as a dentist, financier, banker, or politician.
Ideal Partner: Tiger, Ram
Horse years: 1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002
You see, things worked out for me! I'm real happy I never became a politician, and a dentist experiences too much pain, so I'm glad I never considered that either. But the other two worked out ok. :-)
