Collaboration between the Good Apple and MSM, Fri., Dec. 30, 2005, 9:50 AM
This morning (9:50am ET, which is right now) Tom McManus, chief strategist at Bank of America Securities, is on CNBC Squawk Box. This is an example of how MSM and the best people from Wall Street can serve the Little People.
Along with Tom McManus, I think Don Coxe, chief strategist of BMO Harris Bank and Bill Seidman who is a regular commentator on CNBC, are entirely professional and credible. During 2006, I would like to build up a list of say twelve such sources of solid market perspective.
Perhaps you can help me in this search by pointing me to info sources you like. I'll check them out and decide if they are to join the Cara Dream Team. :-) Isn't this fun?
Then, I'll track every word these people say in public and summarize it in a Weekly Dream Team Report that you will get in a concise pdf format. This will be the new Research Department for the Cara blog -- probably $25 million or more in annual salaries coming to you free.
BTW, please don't anybody send me the name Abby Joseph Cohen, the so-called super-star analyst at Goldman Sachs. She may set hearts aflutter on Wall Street, but she doesn't stand one chance in 1,000 in making the Cara Dream Team.

Discourse
I use Coxe to give me a world overview and then I try to find stocks to fit the criteria, sometimes using some of the analysts on Robtv.
At this point in time, Coxe is very interesting.
It would be worthwhile to investigate his primary sources to better understand

Jeff Sault at Raymond James in the U.S. provides useful perspective both from a shorter term "trading", as well as a longer term "investment" point of view.
Barry Ritholtz at Maxim Group has an interesting blog (bigpicture.typepad.com), but I have not been able to locate a record of his publications.

Bill,
Great idea about the "Dream Team" of advisors that the masses can actually believe and trust.
I have recently read a book called "Tomorrows' Gold" by Dr. Marc Faber. I must admit that I have become a huge fan of this Austrian trained economist based in Hong Kong. If you haven't read it, have a look. This fellow is spot on with his analysis and his running commentary on all things of global concern economically. He is consistent in his message and is at the top of his profession in my opinion. I understand he also has a website and can be read in certain Asian and Middle East newspapers and websites, but I have "plugged" him enough already. His vision and predictions in the book are not only astounding but backed up by the most impressive research I have ever seen in 22 years in the investment business. An excellent candidate for inclusion on the Cara team.
Best regards and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Chris
