Building an e-community, Thur., Dec. 1, 2005, 6:40 PM

I have promised to include (during re-design) a facility to help build an e-community around this blog. I have had a lot of suggestions, including this one today:

All you have to do is plant" comments by a female in your blog and watch the boys swarm! What did Kate get, 13 responses? Quick, change that picture on your banner and change your name! :-) "

I hear you.

I'm also glad that Kate commented that we all appear to be a reasonable bunch:

Thank you all very much for your info and comments -- this is a very kind and knowledgeable community here."

Yes, the gang did me proud.

And knowledgeable they are. There are in fact traders from CBOT and COMEX, money managers, financial planners, registered reps, business editors, engineers, lawyers, accountants, and college professors past and present, among others.

Somebody asked me who my readers are, and I replied that with four academic degrees and professional accounting designations, plus numerous years in the securities industry, I think I rank in the top quintile among this group, but I'm not sure.

This is definitely a knowledgeable group. I certainly don't mind reading the comments, or the mail I get directly.

And judging from the moves that followed (by minutes) a couple buy" recommendations I have made, my readers must include the Metal Men of Zug, and Mr. Joe from Beijing.

They won't tell me of course when I ask, so I just have to surmise. :-)

The bottom line is that an e-community will come together. I just need some help at this crucial point when the web developers are in the planning stage. So your letters in this regard (or others of course) are welcome. If you have seen another blog " of any kind " that you find to be accommodative to group discussion, please send me the link.

Thank you.

Isn't this whole internets thing great? We can work, shop, pay bills, invest for the future, communicate with each other, listen to music, and watch movies/tv without ever getting out of our fleece jammies.

TGIF!

Bill,
You need control. You need posting rules. Above all, you have to be a female.
