A virtual investment club at BillCara.com, Sun., Dec. 18, 2005, 2:30 PM

I recognize the need for readers to participate in an e-community where sharing of ideas and research and analysis of securities could be a valuable experience. Consequently, with a few rules and guidelines, I am going to set up a virtual investment club at BillCara.com.

Readers are invited to send me a confidential e-mail (nicknames strongly preferred) as to their general interests (i) long, mid or short-term down to day trading, (ii) fundamental, quant, technical or a combo, (iii) preferred sectors and countries, and (iv) if they want to lead a virtual investment group (zero money involved, please) or be a follower/contributor of ideas and research.

Then I'll put together as many teams of four persons as your responses require, and I'll give each team a nickname. The objective will be to work within your own group, strictly by e-mail, to consider which securities to buy or sell, and when. The leader can send to me every week or two weeks, the choice of one opening trade, and I'll enter those into a portfolio system (at the next opening price) to track the relative performance.

The upside here will be found in the group's dynamics and willingness to do the homework, and share ideas. Just remember, there is no cost to join, except willingness, and nothing to win or lose, except knowledge.

Here is a reader who thinks this notion of a virtual investment club is a good idea.

"I have been trading in PFE for months but recently stood aside on all purchases as we neared year end and I thought the sell-off would begin. I never had a losing trade using Bill's buy/ weakness/sell strength methodology. I picked PFE for 3-5% profits 3 or 4 times.

I would be happy and eager to share ideas and analysis in an informal community. If you want my address, Bill has it if you write him directly."

Remember, we can start small, and get fancy maybe later. I'll write up articles on your choices, which puts me into a preferred non-conflict observer role.

If just a few of you want to do this, that's fine by me. And if a lot do, then I'll put in the effort to make it a success.

Just click on this mail link and I'll follow up. BCara@BillCara.com

Bill, yes add me to your list for the group. I use only technical analysis for my trading. Thanks

hi, Bill. I would like to join the virtual investment club. I am not an analytical type, but I do have my strategy and tactics to share.
