Herb Greenberg on spin, Wed., Nov. 9, 2005, 4:26 PM

Columnist Herb Greenberg has some interesting things to say on spin by Corporate America and Wall Street in a MarketWatch column today.

There is no question those people are biased; same thing in government and the civil service. It's just up to the owners of capital who actively trade that capital to try to find the fire behind all the smoke.

I would agree if you think I spend too much time thinking (and writing) these people are crooks for spinning the public, but some of them are. I would also agree that I really ought to devote more time like Greenberg looking into fires.

But time being what it is " always too short " I'll leave you with my sense that this quarter's earnings season has come up with more than the average number of guidance disappointments. Every day it seems there is a Toll Brothers or Marvel that has their stock price get smashed during the conference call with investors.

That's what happens when Wall Street has you set up to expect perfection.
