Dr Doom's views on Asia , Wed., Nov. 9, 2005, 4:55 PM

Along comes another fund on Asia built for the passive investor " the Mathews India Fund (MINDX). I'll have to add it to my monitor.

In the same MarketWatch article today, there is word that interesting Asian market guru Marc Faber has told a Los Angeles audience of traders that an economic slowdown in India and China will hurt stocks in those emerging markets for the next two quarters. Surprise, surprise. Not!

And he also opines that he is very excited about the long-term prospects of those markets. No surprise there either.

Marc Faber is a really interesting (and convincing) speaker though. He is frequently interviewed on ROBTV, where the taped Replay is available.

It pays to check every week at the list of available tapes. If you find interviews with newsletter writers and/or market gadabouts Faber, Van Eeden, Rule, and Grandich, it can be very interesting to watch (i.e., always entertaining and often informative).

Similarly I like to watch CIBC technical analyst Larry Berman, who I think does a terrific job. He is a frequent ROBTV guest. And I think Amanda Lang's end of day show (SqueezePlay) is excellent, particularly when she has McNish and O'Leary as guests/co-hosts.

p.s., It's 5:20 pm and Amanda Lang is interviewing PIMCO's Bill Gross. It's a good interview. I recommend you catch the Replay (afterROBTV uploads it tonight, if you can't catch it live).

p.s., Mark sent along this link to Marc. I highly recommend you watch the radio interview with Marc on video here.

Bill,
I highly recommend Faber's book "Tomorrow's Gold" if you have not read it.
