Michael Dell, thank you, thank you, Mon., Oct. 31, 2005, 4:40 PM

All along I knew I had friends in the business who would tell the truth. Microsoft's Steve Ballmer is a straight shooter. So is Michael Dell.

And you didn't know I had billionaires for friends, did you?

Well, how do you think I was backstopping my statements that the PC industry was in the doghouse? I kept telling you, I'm not impressed". I kept telling you Intel couldn't jump to the moon (that Wall Street was promising) if Ballmer and Dell were not happy campers.

So right at the moment of truth, when I try to stick a three inch neck out three miles, along comes my friend Michael Dell. In case you missed his remarks, all you need to do is have a quick peek at the DELL after-hours price.

Btw, DELL is DOWN "5.0 pct after-hours, and down "5.9 pct from the price an hour ago.

Bad things shouldn't happen to good people. But stuff happens.

That's because the world's best quality manufacturer, and leading technology company, and member of the haughty Cara Global Best 100 Companies list, don't eat that kind of dirt in a BULL MARKET. And that's because it's a BEAR MARKET.

Get it?

I sooooo wanted to short the QQQQ's at the close, just because......well, you know. But my neck isn't as long as yours.

Oh well, I guess if the market gets bid up like this to end the year, I'll have another chance to take a flier at the close on the last trading day of December 2005. Trouble is, I'm not much of a gambler, but I won't forget to bring this up if it happens again.

Bill - keep up the great work, I'm sure you are opening up some eyes to how the game is played and I would love to see Cramer's returns (from that website if it's valid) posted on the sidebar with Luskin's gold call. But really, you shouldn't give Jim Cramer such a hard time. Even you would have a hard time making top notch calls if you were playing for both sides. Boy would I like to know the real story there!
