Less sports promo to come on CNBC, Mon., Oct. 17, 2005, 7:57 AM
Did you see that NBC lost its contract to cover NASCAR stockcar races on TV the next six years?
ESPN/ABC won the business worth some quarter billion dollars. That's good because I happen to love NASCAR, but I expect to watch them on the Sports/Entertainment TV networks. Thank you.
I only mention this because every time NBC holds contracts on prime entertainment properties like WWE wrestling, old-timer golf, Donald Trump, and Martha Stewart, we serious folk who watch CNBC to pick up market news and commentary (a la Bloomberg TV and ROBTV) have to put up with a circus tent overflowing with those so-called NBC "reality" acts. And it's so boring.
Now, at least, we don't have to cringe watching the financial boys and girls at CNBC putting on airs they know something about auto racing. The interviews with people like Jeff Gordon were enough to break the heart of the true racing fan.
Kinda like Kudlow trying to make you money.
