Gold call at Friday noon was prescient, Tues., Oct. 25, 2005, 9:21 AM

I amaze myself sometimes. People ask me how i do it, and I don't have a complete answer. And maybe that's because I don't really want to know.

After all, maybe the truth will scare me out of my wits.

Anybody would have to admit that on Friday morning, the gold market looked like it was down and being counted out. Then along I come and say it's going to turn around. Ten minutes later, I see a pulse, then some signs of revival, and finally a gold market that was coming back to life.

That episode scared me. Could it possibly be the result of what one reader called me on the weekend " the Gnome of Canada?

In any event, the gold stocks yesterday came through for me, and so too will they today. Dec-05 gold futures are now up +6.10 to $473.10.

I need to take a deep breath. And try to figure out what's happening here.
