Gold soars today, Wed., Sept. 28, 2005, 5:30 PM

At 6am this morning I had to get something off my chest, so I wrote a bit of a cheerleading article. Forgive me; I never want to become a cheerleader. It's just that I get so many letters from well-meaning readers who seek the comfort of my handholding. I'd rather be a teacher, and not get involved in your personal affairs.

In any event, I told you this morning that I was very happy to be long gold (actually the miners) and that I cannot understand the angst of some traders. Thankfully, one of the Gnomes came through for me this afternoon and gold (Dec-05 contracts) zipped up +6.90 to close at $473.10.

There are problems in Washington. Gold knows.

Enough said.
