RiskFile, a new independent research firm, Wed., August 17, 2005, 3:43 PM

I am pleased to see a new independent securities research firm start to bloom. About a year ago, the principals contacted me to ask if I would critique their work. I gave advice, which they followed closely, and the product has since developed into a good one. I'll let you check out the RiskFile website to make your own determination.

I see RiskFile as an econometric model for assessment of primary market drivers that are pushing and pulling at equity prices. As you know, I think that's an important study.

The bottom line to anything that is worthwhile in life is that the promoter and the user must be able to explain it in a few simple words. I think I have done that for RiskFile.

Within my own work, I have three initiatives:

1. BillCara.com, which is a free website and blog that I use to educate and inform traders, where I can build a community of readers who may become subscribers to other web services I have been developing.

2. MarketRhythms.com, which will be my personal real-time commentary on global market dynamics, which I believe can play an important strategic investment role.

3. TraderWizard.com, which will be my automated trend and cycle model, which I believe can play a tactical support role in the trading decisions of investment managers.

Before I offer the TraderWizard service, I expect to be registered offshore as an investment advisor to registered investment managers and exempt clients. Like the programming, the move offshore has been delayed, but the universe is unfolding as it should, and there will be a day when it all comes together.

A beta test of the MarketRhythms.com service ought to be ready in about four weeks. A part of that report will be available free, but mostly it will be a premium report designed for sophisticated traders. It has taken a lot of time to put together " closely following the Rule of Five, unfortunately " but the effort will be worthwhile.

At the end of the day, every day, I just feel I am blessed to be doing something I really truly enjoy. These initiatives are not driven by a desire to make a lot of money, but to provide people with services they find useful, and for giving me a basis for enjoying every day to the fullest.

With respect to RiskFile, I think subscribers will find it useful. As structured today, you may decide it is not for you; but the service is still developing. It will continue to improve and sprout new facets that some day might appeal to you.

As I see it, RiskFile is not a tool that could help day traders. But, for those long-term oriented traders who have a need to know how the primary market drivers are affecting the equities in their portfolio, I think RiskFile makes sense.

In the near future, you will see in my own blog some case studies where I combine my perspective with a RiskFile report, particularly with some of the Dow 30 components.

Enjoy.
