Is Tech in trouble? Mon., August 15, 2005, 7:59 AM
Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) will be reporting tomorrow, and traders will be looking right past the expected profit growth (which will, surprise, surprise, beat the estimates), and listen intently to guidance commentary from management.
The writing is on the wall.
The chip stocks -- with the exception of NVDA -- have been dipping, and Cisco, Dell, and Lexmark have all cautioned that the computer industry may be slowing. And you saw what happened to those shares. Instant dump.
And IBM, after reporting an outstanding quarter, has seen its stock price trail off in recent weeks.

And looking at the Hewlett-Packard chart, it appears to me that traders are preparing for the worst. So tomorrow could be interesting.
