Penny mining stocks, Mon., June 6, 2005, 8:24 PM
Given that this is "Mining Season" i.e., when (i) junior resource exploration companies spend some of the cash from their treasury to complete work programs over the summer, and (ii) the stock promoter is back home running the PR printing press 24X7, you might want to get access to some good information.
You may have heard that wildcat exploration is just a bunch of holes in the ground with liars on top. These are, after all, mostly stories.
I'm not the right person to tell you about the best junior mining properties, but I can lead you to good sources of information. I know the game; I know many of the people.
In fact, I just saw one such source being interviewed on ROBTV by Michael Vaughn, and already, within the hour, you can replay the video via the ROBTV website. If you go to this today (June 6), hunt down the list to Michael Vaughn (David Mason).
The analyst/commentator I refer to is David Mason. Although I probably haven't seen David face to face for probably ten years, I have known him for 25. You can trust his word.
Now before you get all excited, (i) we're talking penny mining (i.e., not mining, but really potential mineral resource) stocks that trade under a buck, and (ii) David Mason is one of several really good info sources. He's been there and done that. His company is called Augen Capital, which is TSX Venture (AUG). Here's the web link.
Mason's company is trading at ~12 cents, and it's not a stock I would be interested in, although some Canadians would because it packages tax-advantaged investment products, and David would do good homework.
The company is exchange listed, and David is registered as CEO, so there is already a bit of a covenant there. But it is his background that leads me to pointing out the ROBTV interview; David is a former big broker-dealer mining analyst in Canada who knows the game.
He is not going to on the Vaughn show at ROBTV and talk nonsense or hype stocks that he has a personal interest in.
Others do. David doesn't. That's a start.
I took the following info from an Augen news release of June 1.
About Augen Capital
Based in Toronto, Augen Capital Corp. is a merchant bank specializing in early-stage resources companies. Managed by mining and financial services experts, Augen's portfolios consist of exploration companies that have demonstrated strong upside potential. Over a six-year period, Augen's resource portfolios have outperformed a majority of competitive metal funds as well as the TSE precious metals index.
Augen Capital now has over $20 million under management, including a core portfolio of emerging resource stocks, three-resource flow-through LP's under management, and its mutual fund, Augen Resource 2 Balance Fund. Via its subsidiary Visionary Investment Products, is an industry leader in tax-advantaged flow-through investments in Canada's resource sectors. Through a distribution force of national MFDA and IDA firms, Augen offers high-income and high net worth individuals resource flow-through tax sheltering, together with exposure to mineral, oil and gas exploration companies that are selected to potentially out perform the market.

On the ROBTV website home page, they advertise a Live, High Speed Video Stream on a subscription basis for C$6.95 a month, which is ~US$5.00/month for unlimited viewing access to Canada's premier business and financial news channel. You'll get interviews with investment experts and North America's leading CEO's.
ROBTV may not be as slick as CNBC, but on a comparative value basis there is no comparison. ROBTV is the best.
Now that you know about this terrific service, I'll point out interesting interviews I happen to catch that I think would be valuable for some of you.
