Consumer Staples vs Financials, Tues., May 10, 2005, 1:05 PM

Galatime asked about shorting the Consumer Financials against a long position in the strongest of the Consumer Staples.

I pointed out in my own comment to the article below that, "Kaushik, I guess my point is that by watching credit deterioration over the last 90 days, as GM/F credit broke down, etc, you could see the credit card company AXP (Dow 30 component, sector 40) compare to the household products company PG (Dow 30 component, sector 30), i.e., relatively break down on the charts (see above link). It's an illustration of what I have been writing about."

The chart below shows the relative trading in various consumer financial stocks versus the biggest cap stock of all Consumer Staples stocks, which is Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG).
