Altria is smoking, Fri., May 6, 2005, 3:32 PM

About mid-day Tuesday, Altria (NYSE: MO) started smoking. Then at 1:00pm today, MO took off like a few more people started lighting up.

Some players are seeking hiding places for the market weakness to come. This could be one. While I doubt that, it is a possibility that one of the big investment bankers is hatching a plan to split the food group from tobacco. Do you think?

Actually, I heard there is news out today on MO " I just can't be bothered looking for it.

I do recommend you read today's release of the Value Line report on MO.

Actually I now see that Goldman Sachs was hyping the stock at 1:15pm. I guess somebody knew at 1:00pm.

Discourse

I think the big move was on a ruling from a new york appellate court de-certifying a class action against MO.
