Useful early morning info, Tues., April 26, 2005, 9:57 AM

I have some negative feelings about Reuters that will probably lift after the Instinet subsidiary is hived off to Nasdaq. But I have to admit they are a premier news and capital markets data vendor. They offer a free service that I read quickly every morning because, simply, it can be read quickly, and packs a lot of info into very few words. Therefore, without vested interest, I recommend you subscribe to Reuters Newsmail.

Welcome to the "Reuters Before the Bell" Newsmail.

"When it rains, it pours. Today's a deluge. Futures are showing stocks taking a dip at the open as the flood of earnings surges across the wires. The Treasury market, which is seeing prices firm, has consumer confidence figures, March building permits and retail sales numbers to chew on. Oil is slipping to $54 a barrel and the rally in the yen is flagging.

Among the marquee names reporting today are: 7-Eleven, American Express, Coach, DuPont, Del Monte, Lockheed Martin, Schlumberger, Corning and Amazon.com. Seems not enough folks liked Sara Lee. Their results have just come out.

It's settlement time. No, not trades. Court cases. Bankrupt Adelphia Communications and its founders, the Rigas family, agreed to pay $715 million in a plea deal with the Feds. Arthur Andersen settled a class-action lawsuit by investors, who claimed they were cheated in the collapse of WorldCom.

To keep up with the news click on www.reuters.com throughout the day.

Have a good day .

Leslie Gevirtz, Newsmail editor"

Isn't that neat?

p.s., like some other readers, I couldn't find a live link. But here it is in case it works some day:

Hi Bill,
The newswire subscription link in your article is broken. I used my Reuters account and tried 15 min of searching for a ton of combinations of "newswires, subscription, before the bell" etc etc, but apart from hints at the service, I could only find this: http://about.reuters.com/media/categories/newswires/ Which only gives sales enquiries.. no subscription options :(.

I must be getting slow, or thick, or both.... Or their search facility sux.

Cheers,
Keith.
