Father Knows Best, Tues., March 8, 2005, 2:15 PM

By now everybody who reads me knows the story about Stelco, and how Dad apparently on his deathbed last June, unable to talk, scribbled his first words following a debilitating stroke, "Don't sell Stelco." The stock was 50 cents then, and has today just touched $4.50. A lot of water has crossed under the bridge since last June. And long-time readers have experienced every wave, every ripple.

While he's not in good shape, Dad phones every day, sometimes several times an hour, "How's Stelco?" Even on weekends. But, if it keeps him going, I would never complain.

The news out today is about Stelco earning a possible C$400 million earnings in 2005, which added to about C$150 million for the past nine months, is saying something for a company that management decided (on their own) to put into bankruptcy protection last year " and is still legally bankrupt. Ha!

I could say a lot more, but sometimes it's just best to let it go.
