Chinese Equities: Monday, January 10, 2005 12:43:06

In mid-May 2004, readers will recall that I issued an urgent buy recommendation on three China stocks that trade as ADRs on the NYSE. These stocks are in the Energy and Basic Materials sectors of China, and are all large cap stocks that have excellent fundamentals.

These buy recommendations all came at the recent cycle bottom.

My favorite pick of course is SHI because in early April I also called a Sell/Short Sell recommendation near its cycle top.

Other pundits are calling for a hard landing to the China economy, but I hold the view that China is in great shape, and the major companies in the energy and basic materials industries will continue to be beneficiaries. The stocks are best held until there is a fundamental change in the China economy, as I see it.
